How PrepDrop creates study material.

PrepDrop uses a server-side language model for a narrow purpose: turning material a student provides into proposed study items and an optional focused lesson. There is no chatbot, AI character, or open-ended assistant in the Kid space.
The process
- The student pastes text or supplies a file or photo for one Study Drop.
- PrepDrop extracts the learning content needed for that request.
- The model organizes that content into structured questions, answers, explanations, and—when requested—a short lesson.
- PrepDrop validates the returned structure.
- The student reviews and edits proposed study items before confirming them.
- Only confirmed items enter Flip It, Quiz It, Type It, or Match It.
Optional lessons
A Learn More lesson is grounded in the supplied material and closely surrounding context needed to understand it. Reading lessons use concise sections, concrete details, and visual notes. Math lessons begin with the common classroom method, explain intermediate steps in plain language, and can offer alternate methods and worked examples.
What is sent
PrepDrop sends the minimum source content needed for the requested Study Drop, plus instructions describing the output. Parent passwords, child sign-in credentials, unrelated Study Drops, other family data, and advertising identifiers are not included.
Providers and safeguards
Requests are sent from the PrepDrop server through Vercel AI Gateway to OpenAI. Credentials remain on the server. PrepDrop records the model and prompt version, schema version, processing status, and safe operational errors. Raw schoolwork and typed child answers are not placed in routine analytics.
What the model does not do
- It does not chat privately with a child or contact them.
- It does not determine intelligence, ability, placement, discipline, or grades.
- It does not predict a child's future or build an advertising profile.
- It does not browse freely on the child's behalf.
- It does not replace the student's source, teacher, parent, or final review.
Accuracy and reporting
Automated processing can misunderstand handwriting, layout, equations, or context. Proposed items remain editable. Families should compare them with the source and report recurring problems through the contact form.
